Caution Playground

I took these photos towards the beginning of quarantine when being inside so much began to drive me crazy. This is the playground I went to throughout my childhood, and while I was forced to be home from college, I would come here once or twice a week. One day, caution tape and signs were posted all over the jungle gym and the swings and the basketball courts. It seemed apocalyptic to see my memories covered in something that is typically associated with toxicity or danger, even if it was for the protection of the children.

I think it was seeing the tape that made me realize the severity of the situation we were in and that the city was taking it seriously. In the last few photos, the tape had been ripped away and when I would visit after initially seeing the caution tape, the children would sometimes treat it as another toy or an accessory to the playground.
